The ‘Nifty Fifty’ is a charity event organised by Christine Mccabe, taking place during the City of Bradford Swimming Club Winter Meet at Shipley Pool in December. East Leeds Swimming Club entered a team of six masters’ swimmers into the event helping to raise over £470.00 for Cancer Research. Paul Clemence, Dianne Foster, Stuart Hoyle, Nina Williams, Richard Jagger & Philippa Rickard made up the ‘super six’ East Leeds Swimming Club team.
The event consisted of five teams made up from local swimming clubs, each team consisting of six swimmers undertaking a 50m sprint each. A fantastic winning swim by East Leeds with Richard Jagger heading up the winning split time of 25.03 seconds with Paul Clemence (26.82) and Dianne Foster (27.75) following closely behind.
Swimmers were treated to a lunch by the organisers with Philippa and Nina making the most of the excellent food on offer.
The event organiser Christine Mccabe said “This year’s congratulations go to the East Leeds Masters team and we hope that they too will come back next year to retain their title. Thank you also to East Leeds Masters for their added donation” and added “I would like to take this opportunity of thanking you all for your support and hope that you all enjoyed the Nifty 50 experience enough to come back in December 2016!”
A thank you also to Julie Hoyle for child minding during the event (not the team but the team member’s children!).
