East Leeds Masters have achieved fabulous results in the 2015 T-30 challenge. The T-30 involves participants swimming as far as they can in 30 minutes.
The event held in December 2015 had 12 East Leeds swimmers participating including a number of first timers and a sprinter who generally doesn’t like to do more than 4 lengths (James)! We achieved four individual golds and two silvers in addition to three gold and one silver in the team performance, with others recording personal best distances.
Individual golds went to Kyran Parker in the 45-49 years age group with a new record distance (whilst remaining the record holder for the 40-44 years age group), Richard Jagger 25-29 years (who arrived on time this year), Karen Graham 50-54 years and the veteran of the team showing us all how it should be done Bill Moore in the 75-79 years young age group.
Individual silvers went to Philippa Rickard 40-44 years and Julie Hoyle 50-54 years.
Other places were: 4th Stuart Hoyle 45-49 years (first timer at the T-30, and said “he enjoyed it”), 5th James Barwick 30-34 years (the sprinter of the group) and Adam Grice 25-29 years, 6th places for Karen Dawson 35-39 years, 8th for Jayne Dresser 50-54 years and 16th place for Paddy Harris 45-49 years.
Other mentions must go to Lyn Hughes who was first in the 50-54 years age group and Hannah Riechart 7th in the 25-29 years age group and although not directly members of East Leeds Masters train and encourage us all.
The four entered East Leeds Teams all came away with medals: 3 golds: Mens 120-159 years: James, Stuart, Richard and Kyran, Ladies 160-199 years: Philippa, Julie, Jayne and Karen G, and the Mixed team 120-159 years: Richard, Kyran, Philippa and Karen D and a silver in the 200-239 years for Stuart, Bill, Julie and Karen G.
Details of the T-30 Challenge for 2016 are due to be released soon, and it would be great to see more swimmers taking part. Watch this space...
